Everyone involved in the publication and promotion of this book should be embarrassed. It's not a "harsh truth" that COVID mitigation was a mistake, it's ghoulish and false.

This is one of those things that rarely gets talked about that has had a massive effect.

As fields like journalism, art, and academia were collapsed and living expenses skyrocketed they came to skew increasingly toward people whose families could afford to supplement their income.
If you're ever wondered why journalists seem so out of touch most of the time it's because in order to establish yourself you need to either come from money, marry into money, or be OK with abject poverty and daily financial panic

That third thing is unsustainable long-term

I didn't see the time
Yeah, I waited half my life away

This is genuinely western liberalism summed up in a 30 second video. Incredible. Put it in an art gallery.

Given how much communication now occurs via text, this is basically offloading the responsibility for sociality itself onto a statistical language model. People electing to imbue themselves with all the charisma and insight of a chatbot because they value expressing themselves that little.
AI is deskilling our young people to the extent that they no longer have the ability, or at least resolve, to craft their own *texts.*

The widespread adoption of these technologies is actually a form of child abuse. We are systematically destroying human potential

Imagine kicking a can down the road, and each time you get to it, it's bigger than the last time you kicked it, and that's roughly how public policy works in the 21st century
