Professional menace. Exhausting, but potentially useful. Thrilled about everything and comfortably bananas.

I got lazy using Amazon. No more. Buying directly from businesses, using Costco on-line, local small businesses and my wonderful public library for books. No more Kindle. It feels good and I will continue.

As a teacher, this is it.
Fling as many fish back in the ocean as you can.
Retrace your steps to refling the ones that wiggle back out.
Dance and celebrate even the small wins.

Remember that it’s been doing this for a long time, but a long time ain’t forever.
I know things are bleak and scary right now. But I promise you that you - yes YOU - can get through this.

You don't have to fight all of this on your own. Find one person you can help, and help them. Make the life of one person better every day.

Hold onto your joy.

That's how we win.

Today, I want you to let go of the guilt that comes with choosing yourself. You are not selfish for protecting your peace. You are not weak for allowing yourself to rest. You are not less valuable when you decide to slow down.

Breathe deeply. Let it sink in. You deserve this life of ease.

We could’ve had a contender.
There’s nothing more Minnesotan than jumping in a frozen lake for a good cause.

Destruction is a necessary part of existence. Lean into the chaos, in whatever small way you can. That’s where we learn if the seams will hold and whether or not they should.

And they’ll resent you and mistreat you for sticking with them.
If you meet a man and he’s struggling, let him. Saving him won’t win you his loyalty or even his gratitude.

Kendrick Lamar won the Pulitzer for his work. I say this so maybe, maybe people will grok that when you put a decorated artist of that caliber on the stage, the performance is going to have a backbone to it that, like other Pulitzer decorated art, requires thought, engagement, and serious analysis.

Libraries are great for the books, sure, but it's also nice to have a quiet and safe space to sit and think- a place where no one is trying to sell you anything.

When it comes to K., you either get it or you don't. And he's not going to speak down about it.

I don’t have to fend off the desire to comply in advance. Anyone who knows me knows that, fortunately or unfortunately, I would rather die than let someone I don’t respect tell me what to do.

Some of y’all should have abstained from voting and invested in chickens and a Prius.

This is literally like having the seventh grade D string football team run the country. These aren’t men. They’re preteens.

Mmmhmm
I consider American Psycho to be a “masked slasher” because Patrick Bateman both has his true identity obscured and also quite literally hides behind the face of a capitalist—a system designed to facilitate the most naked and callous exploitation and predation of others. The perfect disguise.

Happy Black History Month! Here is my favorite story about a Black American you may not know about: Robert Smalls. He commandeered a confederate ship and sailed himself, his family, and the other enslaved crew and their families to freedom. THROUGH waters controlled by the Confederacy.
