I like how Umamusume takes itself just seriously enough that there is a viable sports character drama in there with "worldbuilding" minutia, but because it's setting is inherently funny all of that also serve to enhance the central joke as well

It's fascinating to read this and then be able to accurately pinpoint exactly when OP was on Deviantart. Ironically when clubs were introduced was when a lot of us were already starting to leave and feel like it was starting to go to shit!

I greatly appreciate DA for being a place I could experiment with art, get actual helpful feedback, learn things via tutorials, meet MANY longtime friends (and enemies) and follow pro artists.
It also was coded like shit and was a nightmare for comic artists to post on
