I don't understand how anyone can watch how blatantly Grok is manipulated to answer the way ownership desires it to and then act like the other LLM chatbots couldn't possibly be similarly but less obviously compromised to produce responses in whatever way corporate interests and priorities dictate.

one of the things that makes me most mad about genAI (and there are many) is we've been told there's not enough money for hiring. but there's billions poured into ai.

The only reason why anime wasn't popular in the US was because US companies and broadcasters not only viewed it as a threat to their hegemony but also a threat cause they couldn't control it and what it was like. Now in the era of streaming where they can control it, it's big in America
sorry if i sound mean to op, but anime was already mainstream outside of the USA, the main change is that it now actively tries to cater more to a USA market due to the latter's dominance in streaming and the like
It's extremely depressing that anime went from a more obscure medium to front and center mainstream during my lifetime, but this translated to the medium transitioning from "for fans by fans" to pure exploitative capitalism with us as the captive audience
