Cuomo really grasping at straws here. Esp announcing it at the Crains New York business forum today. Guess he's going for the "Rich People for Locking Up Poor People" vote?
Andrew Cuomo says he would as mayor seek to keep Rikers Island open and "rebuild it the right way" so that the jail complex becomes "humane" and "efficient."
This would require the City Council to undo its 2019 law mandating that Rikers be replaced with borough-based jails.
