'Increases in privatisation generally corresponded with worse quality of care, with no studies included in the review finding unequivocally positive effects on health outcomes.'
Nothing new here but govt still keen to increase use of private sector despite all the evidence that it doesn't help pts

Deep End workforce planning: ‘…for proper team based care, NOT task substitution’
Starfield’s : cost-effective primary care requires the 4 CS of 1st Contact +Continuity +Co-ordinated+ Comprehensive team care ( with Family Practitioner/ GP allocation matched to need/per capita).
#GPandPrimaryCare
Recommendation 4
Develop the Deep End GP Workforce
Get extra GPs into Deep End areas – teach Deep End skills, fund Health Equity Fellows,
(Other health professionals, too of course - for proper team-based care, NOT for task substitution.)

Yesterday I visted Staploe Medical Centre in #Soham to hear GPs’ concerns about rising employer NI contributions and the strain on primary care. Grateful for their hard work—our practices need proper support to keep delivering vital services. #EastCambs #PrimaryCare #NHS

In England and Wales, the number of locally employed doctors grew by 75% between 2019 and 2023.

Doctors on the specialist register grew by 13% & GP register grew by 9%.

Training bottlenecks are being created, limiting opportunities for our doctors. www.gmc-uk.org/news/news-ar...

Patient who I saw as a child with their parent, now with children of their own, wanting to see me because they have great memories of care provided.

The concept of family doctor is a powerful one for patients. This continuity of care is better for us in General Practice too.
