If any discussion of medieval medicine gets going, it's only a matter of time before someone brings up leeches.

I wrote about not being paternalistic as a doctor, for the @bjgp.bsky.social, and wondered if we might be maternalistic instead.

@timsenior.bsky.social asked the question in 2012 [which I confess I overlooked at the time] :
How can music be used in med ed ? - or something similar

Great question - and here's a starter :
Peter Grimes and child protection [and much else besides]

Any other thoughts out there?

This line in particular got me: The consultations I have had with these patients aren’t consultations of 15 or 30 minutes. They are consultations of 2, 5, 10 years, split up into 15-minute chunks.

Things that *should* be a big issue in the Australian election but sadly won't be:
- Climate change (even though our election was delayed by massive floods)
- Indigenous rights
- Inequality
- Poverty
- Our treatment of asylum seekers
- {NEW!} Our relationship with the US

Health is going to be a big issue in the election - well, how much people pay to see a GP is going to be a big issue in the election - so I'll try to post a bit more.

Good luck researching head trauma/ traumatic brain injury/ blunt trauma.
The word "systemic" is on the banned list, so if I study systemic inflammation & health, flagged. If I study political science, flagged. If I study trauma, flagged. Keep in mind that the largest mental health provider in the country is the Veteran's Administration, but we can't study trauma now?
