- enflame (and support) separatist activity
- claim same separatists are being persecuted
- invade to "protect" them

I'm going to be That Guy and point out that I've been screaming for AT LEAST TEN MONTHS that Alberta is pursuing an American intervention to separate a la Crimea. I kept getting told I was being hyperbolic.

Carney's speech was intentionally cryptic. He spoke to his corporate co-conspirateurs, using a vernacular too refined for brain-rotted fascists, while the rallying tone of the performance enchanted the common public.

He was pitching Canada to favoured corporate buyers within their "new order".

They're privatizing the West. It's what Carney's Davos speech was about. He literally spoke to their plan to divide "smaller powers" among corporations.
125 countries at the UN supported a global plan to tackle yacht money tax avoidance 1 year ago.
The 9 countries that voted against it were US, UK, Canada, Australia, NZ, Israel, Japan, and Korea.
This tells us everything about which countries' political class & media are running on yacht money.

A clown goes to the doctor. He's named Pagliacci—the clown—that's important for later. He says "Doctor, life is meaningless, each day brings more pain, what do I do?" The doctor turns. He's on the phone, hangs up. "Pagliacci," he says, "that was the jerk store. They shared some truly terrible news."

It's a sign of the times that callousness is now dressed up as intellectualism. That empathy is framed as being as morally problematic as prejudice. That bigotry and hatred is just honesty. That solidarity is treason.

I've never seen a population more united. If people can hold onto that unity, if people can accept that different people will have different ways of confronting fascism, if we can remind NGOs and orgs that they can join but not control the resistance, then, well, people here will write history.

I never studied political science and I've only been finding the vernacular for my political beliefs over the past year. I come by my loathing of the Western capitalist class honestly, ie: poverty and a stigmatized Middle Eastern dad who immigrated for the American dream and went fucking crazy

I think liberal types are lashing out because that's what happens when someone is confronted by a truth that goes against their known reality. Capitalism has consumed everywhere else and now it's consuming the West. It won't stop, and the neoliberal paradigm can't protect the status quo anymore

The danger is not that neoliberalism is ending, but that it is being replaced by something worse: a world of militarized competition, eco-fascism, and technocratic management of permanent crisis. Acknowledging the collapse of the old order is not the same as building a democratic alternative to it.
What Mark Carney gets wrong about the end of the rules-based order
To re-establish power, defend sovereignty, and strengthen democratic values, Canada and its allies must do more than challenge the American state. We must also confront the influence of US corporate p...

Political illiteracy isn’t just annoying, it’s a tool to reinforce ignorance. Defunding schools, overworking the population, barring higher-education behind mounting debt and mainstreaming ignorant political discourse all naturally dovetail into people falling into unexamined positions.
