Fwiw my bet is that the reasons Trump went with Alaska are as follows:
1) He didn't want to leave the country b/c he's lazy and hates foreigners.
2) It being close to Russia made him feel it was a super smart and clever idea.
3) He thinks Putin coming to him makes him look the bigger man.
