"The threat to the state-based groups' funding comes as the Trump administration seeks to force more people with mental illness or addictions into institutions. ... [T]he groups have legal authority to go into facilities where people with disabilities live, to check conditions and treatment."
The Trump administration is trying to slash access to lawyers who defend the rights of Americans with disabilities, advocates say. Most of the lawyers work either for the Department of Justice or for disability rights agencies that Congress set up in every state decades ago.

Giving Jillian Segal even more influence over Australian policy when she still hasn't denounced far-right group "Advance" (which she bankrolls) is extremely poor governing.

Australia deserves far better.
It's over five months since Antisemitism Envoy Jillian Segal made headlines for being one of the biggest funders of highly divisive, far-right political lobby group "Advance".

She has at all times refused to denounce Advance, its bigotry and racist hate.

Listened to an episode of Code Switch today that reminded me of the obsession with “objectivity” in mainstream journalism. Like with research, it’s time to embrace that nothing is objective. All reporting requires choices that mean making a subjective decision. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

There's that one interview where he talks about sleeping with an overweight woman because his friends dared him to. Cruel, disgusting behaviour. I feel like it's sexual assault to have sex with someone for a laugh. They wouldn't have consented if they knew they were a joke to you.

With the money we've spent on wars in the past century, we could absolutely give every person on the planet housing, free energy, free communications technology, and advance the sciences to make even greater beneficial technology a standard of human living.

Vitally important that we as the culture-creating underclass always throw tomatoes at these dweebs & never respect them. They won't see our comments, but establishing ubiquitous cultural canon that every ultra-rich guy is a talentless thieving loser is the first step to taxing them into oblivion.

this is so gross
tangentially, this is made EXTREMELY explicit by things like the “disabled adult child” SSDI beneficiary designation, which you can lose thru marriage. if you’re disabled before age 22 you are legally your parents’ financial responsibility until you’re your spouse’s financial responsibility 🥴

One of the foundational laws of conservativism is that parents own their children, and the concept of a minor to them is one of earning the right to self-ownership (which remains a privilege in their eyes even after adulthood) rather than guardianship as a means to cultivate natural self ownership.

I’ve been seeing this cover over and over and I just…

In the original you’re aware of the horror of falling, but the body positions of the workers are solid on the beam. Here, most of them should be falling off, yet they don’t, because they live in an unreal, consequence-free space.
I guess it's fitting that it's a reimagined, worse version of someone else's artwork
