Doing more reading about Baltimore and had to really force myself to skim Brown in Baltimore by Baum because it was so good. My favorite part is that every new important person was introduced with a brief educational biography. A subtle nod to the theme of the book that also provided geographic refs

I stopped writing in my books. I could but history shows that every time I read I have new things I’m drawn to. So…this is my new system. Post its with notes to guide my typing later that I remove as I transfer notes. The process also gives me some non screen time.

My latest for @rooseveltforward.org on Hawley's misguided proposal to allow folks to deduct up to $25,000 in health care costs, in lieu of comprehensive health insurance protections. Been taking time off work with an aim of 2 weeks off, but was starting to think about work once I was within reach of my laptop after travels to see family. Worry not! Instead of succumbing to my desire to get back to things, I interrogated why I was feeling that way and realized I was feeling 1/

Listened to an episode of Code Switch today that reminded me of the obsession with “objectivity” in mainstream journalism. Like with research, it’s time to embrace that nothing is objective. All reporting requires choices that mean making a subjective decision. 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

#Stata user here looking for some help. I’m working on a decomposition analysis where I’d prefer to compare median values, but I’m stuck. oaxaca_rif doesn’t provide results by variable or group of variable and oaxaca won’t calculate for medians. Any ideas of what to do without dropping observations?

Finally feeling back to myself. The grief rollercoaster is a thing. Have been letting myself adjust to where I am on the ride day by day because that’s giving myself grace. My world won’t be the same, but life goes on.
