this is genuinely wild
Looks like the Dems will pick up 12 seats in the VA House of Delegates, which will go from 51-49 to 63-37 D-R. That's an honestly shocking result.

The best thing about this is the fact that it’s 8 in the morning
Our first few foods: Cannoli Nachos from Mancini’s, Hot Honey Jalapeño Popper Donut from Fluffy’s Hand Cut Donuts and an Affogato Sundae from Blue Moon Diner 👀

This from Matt is an example of what I missed when we lost old the old twitter. Because I saw his post, I moved my afternoon run up by an hour instead of likely calling it later. It’s cool to connect with experts and interesting people in so many fields
Monday afternoon AQI update:

It's taking a LONG time for the smoke to move across the state, but the air will likely be unhealthy in the Twin Cities this evening and Monday night.

I’m a bad sleeper on planes. Flying for any length of time, I’m lucky if I get 15 minutes in a semi-restful state. I flew through the night to London in March 2023, didn’t sleep. Dropped my bag off at the hostel and almost immediately made my way to Tottenham stadium. All worth it to see this guy

Hey @cingraham.bsky.social where can you get a burger between two deep-fried uncrustables in upper New York??
Hike up those stretchy pants: it’s time to start obsessing over what to eat first. The Minnesota State Fair has released the official list of new foods and new vendors making their debut at the Great Minnesota Get Together. bit.ly/44vPxUJ

Knew the inevitable was coming and it’s a big bummer for us but I couldn’t be happier for the guy. He’s a great rotation player and he showed it every night here
FROM SHAMS:

Free agent Nickeil Alexander-Walker has agreed to a four-year, $62 million deal with the Atlanta Hawks, plus a player option and trade kicker, sources tell ESPN. CAA Co-Heads of Basketball Aaron Mintz/Austin Brown and Steven Heumann reached the contract with the Hawks tonight.

I won’t even go to New York for the first time until October but let me tell you, I’m so thankful for this city for showing the country better things will happen and we can elect leaders to be proud of

Mahmoud Khalil is finally home with his beautiful wife and newborn son.

Each one of the 104 days he spent detained was a grave injustice.

From the moment of his detention, @ccrjustice.org + @aclu.org engaged my office as we worked closely to help secure his release. They did remarkable work here.
Mahmoud Khalil emerges from airport security with his wife Noor and newborn, legal team and Rep. AOC.

🚨 After months of defiance of court orders (and the Supreme Court) and claims under oath from cabinet level officials that they would never bring him back, the Trump admin blinks; Kilmar Abrego Garcia is being brought back to the U.S., where he can finally get some due process.

Hard to overstate what MSU-Mankato means to the area where I grew up. Doesn’t feel great to read that a program centered around critical thinking is out but a new one on AI is in www.startribune.com/minnesota-st...
Minnesota State Mankato makes big cuts to academic offerings to save money, meet student and employer demands
The university will go from 306 academic offerings to 216, including 12 new degrees or certificates.

The Supreme Court, in an order issued in the middle of the night, ordered the Trump administration to not remove anyone under the Alien Enemies Act until other legal steps play out in the lower courts.

Some good news in immigration. This past year Minneapolis and St Paul schools saw enrollment increases for the first time in around 8 years thanks to immigration to MN. www.startribune.com/minneapolis-...
For the first time in years, enrollment rises at Minneapolis and St. Paul schools
Hispanic students are key to increases, with Minneapolis welcoming new native Spanish speakers and St. Paul stepping up recruitment efforts.
