Pedestrian only streets and bike lanes should not be removed for winter.
Vulnerable road user crashes account for 22% of all injury and fatal road crashes in HRM. That is justification alone for permanent, not seasonal, safe spaces.

Still looking for a public outdoor home for this 200lb proof of concept. It will continue to glow for the next 10-15 years. Get at me organizers. I'm just an idea man, I will get bored and move on to the next one.

I'm sorry, but what sort of dumbass ad is this? I know when I buy paint, I put the individual cans on the rooftop instead of in the car.

Long overdue. Traffic light controlled crosswalks must replace the notoriously dangerous amber overhead flashing lights, used for most 3+ lane arterial road crossings.
New traffic signals are now active at the Barrington Street crosswalk in front of Scotia Square. Push the button, wait for the light, look both ways and cross safely. The new lights enhance pedestrian safety, improve traffic flow and help people get where they’re going.

Because most people do not regularly walk or bike along main roads, they never see the extent of it. When you move slower we see things like Porcupines treading through our trash, marshland dotted with takeaway cups

For every person attending there is probably five more of us who could not make it due to work, family, etc. But who hugely appreciate the effort made by organisers and attendees. Thanks all, thanks @cyclehalifax.ca
So many #BikeHFX folks showed up for the I Light Halifax ride tonight.

The marshals did a fantastic job keeping everyone safe. The organizers pulled off a great event. Thanks @cyclehalifax.ca and everyone that made this happen!

Don’t miss I Light HFX. The weather is looking warm (by recent standards) but a little damp. But we won’t let that dampen our spirits, we’re Haligonians!

6pm tomorrow (Saturday, Nov 8) at the Dal Quad by the Dal/Kings Bike Centre.

Difficult but essential reading.

Councillors must step up on 18 November and respond to appalling danger with motions and action.
Including adopting Vision Zero (zero deaths in our roads) by 2038 as an actual Goal and target.

I have been trying since December to get an interview with Mayor Andy Fillmore. Three tries with no luck. But I wrote about reporting on Fillmore and some of his motions:
