The "I'd vote for [EVIL FIGURE] if they ran as a D" is so popular with this crowd because they don't want better things or the power to make things better. They just want to endlessly critique the idea that better things are possible.

If this country was truly “pro-life,” we would have Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, gun reform, universal child care, and a living wage.

The right-wing agenda isn’t about “life.”

It’s about control.

No religion, government or person is perfect.

Which is why the U.S. Constitution's First Amendment, which GUARANTEES the right to practice ANY--or NO religion--is a watershed in world history.

If slavery was America's original sin, separation of church and state is its salvation.

Just a reminder that on the Climate Performance Index Canada ranks 61st, or "very low." The USA, even under Trump, is 65th.

That's how much we suck at this. Canada is a petro-state. The CPI notes that Carney is the previous UN Climate Envoy and has rolled back climate policies.

Rubio's entire speech was Christian white nationalism. What else could this mean? It's nothing close to actual history, it doesn't make sense except through the invented history of a "shared history, Christian faith, culture, heritage, language, ancestry" in the "common civilization" of whiteness.

This is what kills me about all of this: property taxes aren't that big an expense for me at the end of the day and TBH I wouldn't even mind paying more if it meant we could live in a better city. But louder voices are happy to burn it all down just to save a buck
THIS is the plan @andyfillmorehfx.bsky.social is pitching so that he can keep taxes low for his landlord buddies upset because their parasitic business plans don’t work. Making literally everyone else pay so his friends can avoid paying their fair share.

Absolutely disgusting.

Black activist, Eddie Carvery of Africville, Nova Scotia has died. When I first met Eddie in the 60's he had a profound effect on me & I've carried that with me ever since. He was predeceased by his brother, Victor.
It was not an easy life, but a life of great consequence. Rest in peace, my friend.
