The House GOP skipped town early for the holidays and let ACA tax credits expire. This week I continue to hear from Ohioans who are seeing their insurance premiums skyrocket for 2026—rates doubling, tripling, and families losing coverage, at the holiday season. Shameless cruelty!

“It’s a Wonderful Life” came out in 1946, but its message still rings true. The wealthy prosper, while the working class struggle to get by. 1 in 3 Americans have had to dip into emergency savings, and 40% can’t cover a $1,000 emergency. That doesn't seem like a Wonderful Life for working families.

This week I spoke out against dangerous cuts to MARAD, and introduced bipartisan legislation to strengthen federal port infrastructure investment across our Great Lakes region. Our NW Ohio ports generate $900 Million in annual economic activity and sustain over 8,000 jobs.

I fight every day for NW Ohioans who will be left behind if the ACA tax credit's are not extended this week. 4 Republicans have shown the courage to join all Democrats on a discharge petition to extend these credits—the real question is will Speaker Johnson have the courage to allow a vote?

I want to thank Ohio's corn & soy growers & Ohio Farm Bureau for an excellent agricultural summit in Defiance, OH. We discussed biofuels as a reliable source of income and power—now comprising 44% of the bottom line for NW Ohio farmers. This is filling the gap as export markets are lost to tariffs.

I want to thank Ohio's corn & soy growers & Ohio Farm Bureau for an excellent agricultural summit in Defiance, OH. We discussed biofuels as a reliable source of income and power—now comprising 44% of the bottom line for NW Ohio farmers. This is filling the gap as export markets are lost to tariffs.
As I return to Washington this week, hoping we can deliver real relief to struggling Americans who are worried about affordable health insurance. May the spirit of this holiday season spill over into common sense in our decision making.
