50 years ago today, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald sank in Lake Superior during a violent storm. From 1958-75, this Great Lakes freighter carried iron ore from Duluth to Detroit, Toledo, and other Great Lakes ports. Today, we remember and honor the life and legacy of the 29 souls lost.

Celebrating 250 years of the US Marines—a proud tradition older than our nation itself. Today, I think of those who were always faithful to answer the call to serve. As we approach Veterans Day tomorrow, I also think of my own Marine uncles who fought for Liberty for all during WWII #SemperFi #Oorah

If we don’t extend ACA subsidies, premiums are going to double or worse. People can’t afford it. We need to make health care more affordable, not unobtainable and out of reach. Affordability is what we are fighting for. It’s time to come to the table and negotiate a real deal now!
November 9, 2025 at 11:10 PM
We must protect health care because the GOP hasn’t advanced a health care plan in more than a decade. Yet, come January 1st they would wipe out ACA support for over 185,000 across NW Ohio.

Important to keep our eye on the ball. A devastating shutdown, costs rising, cuts to food assistance coupled with more and more tax cuts for big business and the ultra wealthy. This isn't what people voted for, but it’s what we get time and again.
November 8, 2025 at 8:11 PM
Since before this government shutdown began, I have been a sponsor of bipartisan legislation in the House to extend the ACA premium tax credits for one year. 15 Republicans—14 Democrats—and no partisan politics. I am glad Senator @Schumer.senate.gov endorses our plan. Let’s reopen the government.

No parents should fear not being able to retire because DC Republicans refuse to extend health care assistance to those with disabilities and complex health needs.

If Congress doesn’t act, families like this will face rising costs they simply cannot afford.

This is what we are fighting for.
November 7, 2025 at 7:25 PM
The President and the State of Ohio are cold hearted in refusing to act while more than 1.4 Million Ohioans struggle without food benefits. A $25 Million bandaid won’t help cover a $264 Million hole. Billionaires get enormous tax breaks. Ohioans can’t even get scraps. It’s cruel.
November 6, 2025 at 9:34 PM
The ACA has changed lives and expanded care to many who had been left out in the cold. I will not stop fighting to help feed our neighbors, turn SNAP benefits back on, and to make sure that those tens of millions of Americans most in need of health care can afford it. This is a life and death issue.

Last Congress Kevin McCarthy was removed and the chair of Speaker was vacated. This year Speaker Johnson removed the entire Chamber for 48 days and the chair of the Speaker was vacationed. House Democrats are ready to meet to find the Big Middle and reopen government when he is.

Grocery prices keep going up, childcare and rent are unaffordable, and health insurance rates are about to skyrocket. This is just one of many NW Ohio constituents I am fighting for every single day. We must do everything within our power to bring costs down for those just trying to make ends meet.

On my way back to Washington. Hopefully we’ll be able to find compromise this week, and make sure that the other side of the aisle calls us back to work. The American people expect a whole lot from their members of Congress, and it’s time to settle this impasse which is harming the American people.
November 4, 2025 at 9:26 PM
We are a nation of laws. I share the President’s desire to get government open again, and I’m ready to negotiate to ensure millions don’t lose health coverage, but the shutdown does not give him the authority to shut off food assistance to millions of working Americans. Court orders must be obeyed.

People are losing their healthcare. Children are missing meals. But in Washington they’re busy knocking down the East Wing and showing off the new marble lined gold embellished bathroom. #OutOfTouch

The government has been shut down for a month, health care costs are skyrocketing, food benefits are being withheld from tens of millions. What’s the President doing? Throwing a fancy party at his private club for Billionaires and Millionaires.

Wishing everyone across NW Ohio a safe and spooky Halloween! May your night be filled with laughter, light, and just the right amount of fright. As our communities come together, let's ensure that our neighborhoods remain safe for all the little ghosts and goblins enjoying the evening! 🎃

Feeding the hungry is a moral imperative. President Trump and the GOP have the authority to ensure hungry children, women, seniors, and veterans are fed but are choosing not to. Now federal judges have said he must tap the contingency fund to keep SNAP available for those in need.
SNAP benefits must continue despite shutdown, judge tells Trump administration
The Justice Department argued that the food stamp program, which feeds more than 40 million Americans, effectively did not exist anymore due to the shutdown.

This week, I returned to Washington. As the government shutdown is into its 30th day the vast majority of my colleagues are not here. If Congress doesn't act, millions of Americans will see their health care premiums double or even triple, and 42 million Americans will lose critical food assistance.

The withdrawal of American troops in Eastern Europe leaves our NATO allies vulnerable and sends a dangerous signal. This allows Dictator Putin to have his way as Russia continues its illegal aggression in Ukraine. President Trump must rethink this decision before it is too late.

At Speaker Johnson newser, I wanted to find out why the GOP are denying SNAP food assistance for more than 42 Million nationwide and keeping the government shut down rather than protecting health care prices from skyrocketing over 200% for working families. He scurried out the side door.

Speaker Johnson must reopen the House and allow negotiations toward bipartisan compromise before it is too late. The health care of millions of Americans depends on it!

A $40 Billion bail out for Argentina and foreign beef purchases to flood your supermarkets and only now the GOP recognizes their policies are wiping out our farmers and American families. Out of touch doesn't do it justice.

The House hasn’t been in session for more than a month and now Speaker Johnson and Leader Thune say that it is a “waste of time” to vote on legislation to ensure SNAP food assistance reaches more than 42 million nationwide including over 185,000 in NW Ohio next month. The time to act is now!
