Not for academics it isn’t. You learn by reading and by following citation chains and talking to other people in the field. Letting the AI do the summary is abdicating your job.

The lobster card is ADORABLE and I love book recs. I am a salty sea hat, tyvm. The heartfelt ornament is already on the tree and I can't wait to taste the tea. I might use it to make tea soup (from a vegan Vietnamese cookbook I have).

I have a bunch of food allergies and restrictions, but I'd never turn down plain dark chocolate or tea. However, I'd hope if gifted any, it wouldn't be from a company supporting genocide or modern slavery or war.

I read. A lot. Coming close to 100 books this year. I write poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. I play board games. Movies are fun, especially three kinds of scary that's just the suspense, but i also enjoy for stress release watching formulaic hallmark holiday movies. Going to the aquarium is fun

So glad to see @jordanscarroll.bsky.social get the Hugo Award.

Have spent the past year screaming at people and demanding that they read it. Deserves to be read. So relevant.
Some may claim racism has no place in science fiction, but sadly SF has a long history of enabling fascist worldbuilding

That's why you need to read @jordanscarroll.bsky.social's "Speculative Whiteness," a first-rate takedown of racist subtext in sci-fi

I absolutely am so sorry that I misspoke. It is indeed Marie Brennan! And she gave a great acceptance speech. (Mari also had an amazing poem up for the award). I am hopeful this will be the first of many poetry awards.
@mariness.bsky.social just won the first ever Hugo award for poetry! As a former ELL teacher, one of the things I have learned to care deeply about is the ways colonialism damaged generations to come via language death and the ways we can revitalize language. I'm excited for this win.

Incredibly important report on AI training & copyright released today by the European Commission. It gets lots right, slamming the idea that creators should be required to opt-out of having their works used for free by AI companies.

It says:

- Generative AI must be based on opt-in consent
