Using ai to put personal details in the scam emails, "you've done THIS and THIS and THIS," and honestly I was momentarily touched before I realized no human soul sent the email.

Writing can be a lonely pursuit. I hate that they're exploiting our very human vulnerabilities for minor gain.
Writers: Bots are sweeping through Amazon's reviews and emailing authors with gushing scams like "Only 2 reviews for a thrilling work like this?! Jesus wept! I can get your brilliant words in front of yadda yadda yadda..."

Please do not fall for the okey doke.

Great review: "If you're looking to read a horror novella with heart—and many, many teeth—then We Who Hunt Alexanders is the book for you. While it may not solve the world's problems, it nevertheless provides an excellent catharsis for those who wish for justice." 1/2 imaginatlas.ca/catch-of-the...

I'd been seriously trying to write for eight years, with results I wasn't confident in or happy with. Waters of Versailles was the breakthrough that put me on track for writing professionally, after climbing a freaking shit ton of psychological mountains.
Sometimes you luck up on a story and you realize you're with that writer for LIFE. No matter what they put out, you're there. @kellyrobson.com did that for me with Waters of Versailles. First came out in 2015. 10 years later I still think about it. I analyze how she constructed that brilliant thing.

In 2018, this gentleman backed my Kickstarter for Faces on the Ferry, choosing a custom portrait tier. He sprung it on his ferry-loving girlfriend. Fast forward to 2025, and she surprises him with a portrait of their family of three on his birthday. Sweet, huh?
