As the technician
placed the bandaid on my arm
where I had just received
my various booster shots
I said: “I imagine
you’ve been doing this
a lot lately.”
But in response
he just said, “not really,”
and I understood why
the shelves in the cold/flu aisle
were so empty.

Its just fascinating to me that Medicaid fraud is treated like its SNAP fraud or benefits fraud when its one of the few welfare cases in which the person doesn't receive the cash from the government, the -provider- does, but all of the cuts are -patient- centric

I get that it’s easy to ignore
those telling you
the pandemic is not over,
but you should know
that the insurance industry
is worried about the
“rise in illness,
premature death
in young Americans,”
I know you won’t listen to
my concerns,
but know the insurers
are worried too.

Apologies, the last thing I want is to romanticize the past, catastrophes and barbarism, cruelty and plagues, none of these things are new, yes, I understand, that we have always lived amidst crise…

If we get through this somewhat intact, it's going to be incredible to see how much DOGE actually cost us in terms of lost tax revenue and worker productivity. Bet those costs will be in the billions, and that's even before we get into the losses caused by gutting science and tech.
Elon Musk's effort to slash government "led to purchasing bottlenecks and increased costs; paralysis in decision-making; longer public wait times; higher-paid civil servants filling in menial jobs, and a brain drain of scientific and technological talent."

Gélineau advanced the term "narcolepsy" in 1880 while de la Tourette described his eponymous syndrome in 1885. "Autism" was coined by Bleuler in 1911, with full diagnoses soon after.

But what do I know? I'm not the Cabinet secretary in charge of the goddamn Department of Health and Human Services.
RFK JR: ADD, ADHD, Tourette syndrome, Narcolepsy, Autism.. All of these are injuries that I never heard of when I was a kid.

So facilitating the poisoning of children is now “pro-life”.
Previous to the FDA, folks would put chalk and plaster of Paris in milk to make it appear white. They could also add formaldehyde to cover the smell and taste of spoiled milk.

When I was growing up autistic kids were "hyper" or "had water on the brain" and there was always a raft of "weird kids" who were socially ostracized because they had a hard time people-ing. If you don't think autism existed before it was commonly called "autism," it's because you chose not to see.
My dad truly believed that people just didn't have autism when he was growing up and I had to be the one to break it to him that autistic people who didn't fit in WERE PUT INTO INSTITUTIONS
