Everyday life is full of small choices and opportunities to move more. Whenever possible I choose the stairs. It’s the healthier option and an easy way to add mini workouts into your daily routine. #GymOfLife

Similarly, I often cycle past 2 bagpipe players often rehearsing under a big oak tree on a quiet countryside lane. They’ve been doing this for at least 5 years now. I love bumping into them.
Ok, this is magic. As the music fades away on my headphones, and I come off the field edge and onto a farm road, I can just hear the saxophonist who practises on a rural lane near here. I happened upon him last year and took his photo. But that was summer, and this time the world is yellow and gold.

It is completely impossible to understand why there are still official governmental and public sector accounts on a platform owned and directed by a man who has made it clear his intention to interfere with UK governance #Twexit
It's been clear for a long time that X-Twitter is a direct and deliberate threat to UK national security - perhaps one of the most serious we've faced for decades. Nothing was done, and nothing will be done.

It's all happening for us train enthusiasts (or is it just me?) as today marks 200 years since the Stockton and Darlington Railway opened in 1825 - the birth of the modern railway.
So here are some of the many railway linocuts I have done over the years - too many, I hear you say? Surely not… 😂

Got to hand it to the Greens. Rhetoric like this is pretty refreshing in an era of "it's too difficult to fix" and "it's all immigration's fault", which is what we seem to be getting from everyone else.

Politics with a little bit of positive hope is quite nice to see while I doomscroll.
How do we fix this mess?

The Amazing Style of British Cyclists — Die, Workwear!
On a Sunday afternoon in May of 1955, a ragtag group of forty people crammed themselves into The Black Swan, a cozy pub in the market town of Leominster, England. They were responding to a letter published in The Bicycle magazine the previous October. Penned by W.H. Paul — a thin, bespectacled man better known [...]Read More...

It is a bit crap at the moment, undeniably. It has been a bit crap for a while.

However, if someone tells you that the crapness is the fault of another group in society, they are probably selling you something.

Politicians do this for power. Media outlets do this for revenue.

Don't be a fool.

Worth repeating a million times.
„A people deprived of the capacity to tell the difference between truth and falsehood loses their ability to distinguish between right and wrong“ (Hannah Arndt)
Remember in 2006, when Stephen Colbert said at a White House Correspondents Dinner, “Reality has a well-known liberal bias”?

The salience of the line lingers for a reason.

This is spot on, and not just with regard to legal reporting. We increasingly live in a world of binary and deeply simplistic thinking. Which means that everything is slowly turned into a us-versus-them question. It is disastrous for reasoned debate.
Part (but not all) of the problem is the tyranny of simplicity: media, and the transmission of information in general, often require simple summaries. Some summaries achieve brevity through easy untruths.

In London, they’ve cut deaths and serious injuries by 34% and child fatalities by 75%.

That's why we need to see more 20mph areas. My op-ed for @theguardian.com ⤵️

Brexit dividend: our swimming waters are MUCH more polluted than any EU country's because we no longer have to follow EU environmental law since Brexit so water companies can get away with just about anything.
