There's always a dozen or so Democrats who screw us on just about everything!

The SPEED Act protects corporate interests, not the public, and it should be rejected by any senator who claims to stand with the people,” said one campaigner.

If refusing to comment is enough to kill a story, then the government now has veto power over journalism.
That’s what CBS normalized last night — and it should scare everyone.

There’s a growing problem you’re not supposed to question: masked agents detaining migrants. Not in war zones...here...on U.S. soil. When power hides its face...it stops being accountable. When you can’t ID authority...you can’t challenge it. 1/5 🧵

I didn’t have the Supreme Court destroying the authority of federal district courts on my bingo card. But in retrospect that’s perhaps where all this shadow docket decision-making was going all along.

Really scary stuff.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

Essential analysis of we can learn to coexist without destroying the commons.
A new paper shows humanity *can* live within planetary boundaries, with a massive *however*: "Although such measures are technically feasible ... it is an open question whether they can also be implemented based on social or institutional feasibility considerations."
With current trends and policies, we'll transgress all planetary boundaries in 2050, except for ozone depletion. Targeted interventions — e.g., the Paris Agreement — can help, but not enough. More effective policy measures are needed to ensure we live well within the planetary boundaries.
