I was watching Amy Heckerling's I Could Never Be Your Woman (stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Paul Rudd; Saoirse Ronan's first movie!) and woo boy talk about "gas leak cinema."

Anyways I was on the wiki page and...what's this all about? I only watched 20 minutes. Did I miss something major?

Rewatched One Battle After Another and:

1. Can confirm it is a stone cold masterpiece.

2. Hit a bit different watching it when ICE was rounding up people a mile from my house.

A theme of the movie is that community can fight fascism and boy have I lived that over the past few days:

I know Drake Maye's nickname is "Drake Maye" but it should be "Oh wow that's such a pretty throw right there."

The collective delusion here is useful in that it has provoked conservatives to dispense with decades of bootstrap rhetoric and reveal what they would say if they thought black people were people, that is to say, if these things were happening to them

Seeing a lot of “where is the party going to be when It Happens” and, I dunno. I think there is huge desire for a return to decency and it’s something liberals should embrace. Celebrating a death would be counter-productive to that. At the very least it’s a vice that should stay behind closed doors.

The cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing.

All from his movies.

How do you compare Stand by Me with When Harry Met Sally? How can you judge The Princess Bride against Misery? The same guy directed Spinal Tap and A Few Good Men?

I'll pick a reference to one of his Rob Reiner's bad ones (North) if he's gone: have some borscht in his memory.

Packing for Thanksgiving and my wife keeps telling me to pack a winter coat for walking-the-dog. Finally I respond, "Are YOU bringing a winter coat!? Because WE are the same size so if YOU brought a jacket, I have a jacket!"

Turns out wives do not care for this line of argument!

Cufflinks are the USBs of men's fashion. Have never once put them in the right way on the first try. Even when I try and outsmart myself by doing the opposite of what I would normally do, nope, still wrong.

On World AIDS Day I share an oral history from the Concord Library in which my grandparents were interviewed about the illness and death of their son (my godfather). The picture at the end always hits me like a ton of bricks. Love you, Uncle Bobby.

Has always been my stance that ALL Thanksgiving food is bad. The only exception is the Monster Leftover Congealed Gravy Sandwich that you make at 9pm because dinner is at 2 for some reason.
