Left-liberal Evangelical. Masculine pronouns. An enemy of tyranny and friend of liberty.
“And in the light of history Stalin will probably have the same relation to the early dreamers of the Marxist dreams which Napoleon has to the liberal dreamers of the eighteenth century.” -Reinhold Niebuhr in 1944 gotta give it to him on that one

Definitely a final boss version of “never thought the leopards would eat MY face”
MTG: “.. “I am now being contacted by private security firms with warnings for my safety as a hot bed of threats against me are being fueled and egged on by the most powerful man in the world. .. The man I supported and helped get elected.”

We cannot be post-liberal because we are not yet liberal. We haven’t harvested the wide field of liberty our forebears sowed. But we will. The thugs and tyrants have been fighting their rearguard action for two hundred and fifty years and they’ve been losing inch by inch.

Moral Man and Immoral Society is so… wrong. It’s just kinda funny. “Corporately, people are worse than the individual” - No they’re not! That isn’t true!

First world countries should give 10% of the national GDP to the support of the global poor and international development.

(Also open borders)
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

I do like,”This is beneath us” more than “This is not who we are”. Partly because it’s a little old fashioned and partly because it is truer.

The way prisons are run is genuinely an insult to our dignity as a free people.

If nothing else comes out of the backlash to Trumpism, let it be a renewed commitment to small-r republicanism. This should be embarrassing. It should be shameful. You are a free citizen of a free republic, act like one for God's sake.
Something that’s so striking in these emails is how…unimpressive Epstein is. He comes off as a pompous, sub-literate lech. Yes everyone is so mortifyingly solicitous of him! All fawning and flattery! Why?????

“The people most enthusiastic for liberty - the Athenians, the Lacedemonians, the Romans, and the Carthaginians - were those who enacted the most severe laws against their serfs” -Voltaire, letting us know that Republican crowing about freedom is not new

“[But to] assume that the laws are a mere façade, that they have no validity, and therefore it is pointless to appeal to them would mean to go on reinforcing those aspects of the law that create the façade and the ritual.” -Vaclav Havel

Every democratic defector driven out of public life. They are putting us at the mercy of lawless men for free. Disgusting.

This is a fun one because what it shows is that wages have grown faster than everything except: College, Childcare, and Medicine.

And remember folks: The wage premium for college is still very good!

Reading A Well Ordered Republic by Levett and it’s good and thorough but I am very stupid and he is clearly trying to meet republicanism’s strongest objections on fair grounds so I have to pretend I understand the objections I have never even heard of.

Sometimes I defend high-minded principles of peace and goodwill that I think consonant with leftist values, but my opponents are always able to cite all the worker led socialist paradises that ruthless willingness to deploy violence have wrought so I'm forced to bow before their superior pragmatism.

One key trick to making people mad on Bluesky is to not link the article, which does not propose that women destroyed the West but argues against Helen Andrews proposal that they did!

"the revolt of the bosses" is a good way of framing the elite reaction to woke 1. what's particularly interesting is that this isn't a reaction to an attack on profits--it's a reaction to changes in workplace culture--

which is to say, the psychic wage of hierarchy
I suspect that the revolt of the bosses element of all this really is explained by: a bunch of upper echelon Americans really didn't like the cultural and workplace changes induced by Woke era, some portion of them were pushed into internet insanity, but most just wanted a shift slightly right....

It is kinda funny how the good advice of “try being interested in something women are interested in” can be controversial.

Pickme, simp, performative men - These are all words for “someone who tries harder than I do for the thing we all want very badly.”
The solution to the male loneliness epidemic is attending a local Democratic Party canvassing event.
WOW. 81% of women 18-29 voted for Mamdani, 80% for Sherril, and 78% for Spanberger.

Gen Z women aren't playing around.
