If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have profoundly misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ.

I have a lot of thoughts on this. like, I get it, truly I do. but also lots of good local news is available online, and even if offered quality reporting, would some people even take it? that right-wing echo chamber is so affirming. plus, a lot of local news is now owned by Sinclair anyway, etc.
New: Trump won the popular vote narrowly. But in news deserts—counties where there are no local news sources or reporters —he won in a landslide. Latest by me and @volk_maps for Medill School’s Local News Initiative. localnewsinitiative.northwestern.edu/posts/2024/1...

The final House results have now landed as 220-215 for the GOP. That means the House majority came down to the 3 NC seats the GOP flipped thanks to its brand new gerrymander.

And that gerrymander hinged on NC's supreme court flipping in 2022.

Some of you are crossing the line from understandably sad about the election and nervous about the future into a conviction that the only appropriate emotion for everything is despair and that it's impossible for anything to ever get better again, anywhere, and friends that is called depression.

Drake just signed a legal document acknowledging "Not Like Us" did him great harm.

Is this not the biggest defeat in hip-hop history?

This is true especially considering how good the Chiefs defense is.
Bryce Young is balling out today. I haven't seen him throw the ball into harm's way too much today, impressive against the Chiefs.

He's been accurate and putting the ball where he wants it to go.

Keep it going. #Panthers

Project 2025 is the basic blueprint for the second Trump administration, exactly as everyone (including its authors) always said it was. Trump got his hardcore base to enthusiastically parrot his lies disavowing it because deep down, many of them see themselves "in on" the scam.

listen, this opinion is more than 60 pages and it is *non-sense*

judge acknowledges that DOL has the power to control the exemption but buys the argument that increasing the income threshold "displaces" the other elements of the test (it does not).

honestly wild how little sense this makes. 1/

Finally, I'll say:

It’s an unenviable position to decide whether to fight for one’s dignity and be dismissed as a distraction feeding the opposition’s narrative, or to say, "I’m not going to take the bait," and choose otherwise. Whatever one chooses, let’s be clear: it’s not a costless choice.

The Only Bluesky Tip You Need to Know:

Liking a post doesn't really do much, other than letting the poster know you liked it.

Reposting ("retweet") actually shares the post with your followers.

In 2020 Cheri Beasley lost her race for Chief Justice by 401 votes. Looks like we will have a similiar margin in this year's Supreme Court race. Riggs currently up 66 votes.

1/ The GOP has been declared the victor in 218 House races, the Dems have won 212 races and 5 races are left to be called: AK-AL, CA-13, CA-45, IA-1 & OH-9.

There is a reasonable likelihood that the Dems will win up to 4 of the uncalled races, which could but them up to 216 seats.

The twist is . .

The question no pundit demanding wholesale change of Dem politics has been able to answer:
I mean as soon as you grant the premise that truth no longer matters, you've already lost. If what you do and say as a candidate no longer matters, then why is changing what you do and say as a candidate going to matter?
