Can’t emphasize how much this is true. Your ability to generate attention is your most marketable skill as a writer, for better or worse. Especially right now. If you hate someone but keep sharing their articles, the people who employ them look at that and go “hey, they’re always in the convo”
if you hate the writer, do not share the writer's articles. people clicking on the articles is how the writer gets paid. "how do THEY still have a job in journalism, when so many talented people are being laid of?!" you, because of you. you are why.

This Veterans Day, instead of uplifting our veterans, Trump & Republicans are letting them go hungry.

1.2M veterans need SNAP benefits to feed themselves & their families, as do 13% of active military personnel.

This is intentional policy harm, and they deserve better.

No money in the red kettles. Mutual aid instead.
(And no, I'm not taking questions about this.)
Salvation Army seen feeding ICE today. For anyone who doesn't already know about their bigotry, here is more, No need to give them your money this Christmas, or ever.
It’s dinner time for the police. Appears to be pizza from a Salvation Army van.

Broadview’s “free speech” curfew starts soon, at 6pm.

People of Illinois, we need your help.

Get your cell phones out – record what you see. Put it on social media. Peacefully ask for badge numbers and identification. Speak up for your neighbors.

We need to let the world know this is happening – and that we won’t stand for it.

This is Luigi and my normal walking route. Because of the heat, we moseyed slower than normal. Missed the bricks falling by about 5 minutes. So scary. So glad no one was hurt.

Not taking anything away from Senator Padilla because he was treated atrociously

But I JUST want to remind everyone that the Congresswoman LaMonica McIver, a Black woman, was just indicted for just asking questions at an ICE detention center in her state

Keep that same energy of support for her

They say that life mimics art and here we are literally living The Truman Show, Her, Wag the Dog, The Hunger Games, and The Handmaid’s Tale all at once and I absolutely hate all of it.

1 in 35 Americans live in LA County.

LA is America
not the main issue here but i'd really appreciate it if democratic politicians spoke out in support of big-city life and culture with the same energy and reverence that all politicians have for small towns

los angeles is "real america" and so are all the other big cities the president hates

Boston isn’t Boston without its Black, Latino & immigrant communites/populations. Problem is people who never lived here a day in their lives have no clue the actual city and its national/media image are in direct conflict with one another.
Philadelphia and Boston are the blueprint for productively and beneficially violating authority.

(Boston allegedly has us beat for homegrown northern anti-Black and anti-immigrant racism, but it’s not due to lack of effort.)
We need to run this back

If we stop calling these “grants” and start calling them “contracts,” it’s clearer to people why this is such an abuse of power. This wasn’t a bunch of gifts. This was a bunch of binding contracts between researchers and the US govt for specific agreed upon projects.
Research into quantum mechanics, volcanic eruptions and all sorts of other studies already underway canceled for no reason - a waste of resources, loss of innovation and undercutting expertise across multiple fields.
NEW: The National Science Foundation last week terminated 196 grants to Harvard amid the university's feud with Trump.

Just 5 years of primarily performative “reckoning” with racial injustice was too much for some. As quickly as we saw statements ostensibly supporting equity, we have seen them taken down. We have not yet seen any reckoning, but we will keep fighting for resources, power, & safety in our communities.
