My friend just rescued a cat who had been in a hoarder’s house and then in a shelter’s cage for five months. Came home today.

Whenever I post about this I get snarky people replying "Who cares? What difference does it make." Well, the whole phenomenon of people not understanding what makes a breed and how rare they are is exactly what enables unethical backyard breeders to do what they do.
I would like to articulate one of the BIGGEST misconceptions about cat breed genetics by talking about the NEBELUNG!
An extremely rare breed with only SIX(6) in the whole US, and no breeders, yet one that thousands of folk online are convinced they own.
Your cat is NOT any breed, and that's okay.

More good news regarding Pretty Kitty Tad Meow (in photo). Since getting our new cat Wynter, Tad has not peed or pooped randomly on the floor. He wasn't sick, thankfully. Tad was lonely and acting out. We were hesitant to get another cat because he's 15. It's exactly what he needed, though.
