It is officially holiday party season, and my social skills are lacking. Anyone have good strategies to seem entertaining while making other people do most of the talking?

Pluribus is so good?? It’s like if the X-Files and The Good Place had an extremely upsetting but darkly funny baby

Call the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and they will connect you with your senator's office.

If you're represented by one of the squishier centrists, be sure to make a call. Now.
Sounds like the squishes in the senate caucus are ready to pull the plug with no ACA changes. This is real. If you want to register your opinion you shld call yr senator in the next hour. They not only want to reopen w/nothing. They want cover from their colleagues who still want to hold out.

Found Pluribus really interesting so far. Everyone else seems to agree, so it's probably not just because it accidentally shared some things in common with The Host.

A thing I need fantasy authors (who are not Tolkien) to understand is that “normal person becomes unwitting hero” stops being “normal person becomes unwitting hero” when you add on “bc they’re secretly the most important/badass person alive!”

... The acoustic version of Elizabeth Taylor is interesting, and I wish I had a more thorough knowledge music history so I could analyze it. The opening sounds like the intro to "I Will Survive," but there's a lot going on...

This is so bad. Teen Vogue had some of the last quality political coverage in the mainstream media.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

This prompt also got me to look over a lot of albums that may not have been “perfect” but remind me of what a year it was – Heart Shaped World, Stone Roses, Garth Brooks, Cosmic Thing, Rhythm Nation….

Seeing some folks give more to their local food bank. Seems like a good idea. Also throwing out there that your local community college might provide a secular source for community services, including those offered by food banks.
