you are clinically depressed.

But when you decide to return to the lava-lamp of atrocity that is the internet without a quake of dread—you’re cured!

. . . Even though you see the sock, stare at it between loading scenes, and while you consider how not-hungry you are for longer than a week . . .
November 18, 2025 at 4:35 PM
If the sock is on the floor—just one sock, all on it’s lonesome—and should, self evidently, be in the laundry or with its other half but has lain there, undisturbed, for the entire week you’ve devoted to playing the same stupidly repetitive video game, 29 hours a day . . .
November 18, 2025 at 4:33 PM
In this case, the sock can be a literal sock, but just as easily some other easily waylaid item that does not belong on the floor for an extended period of time.

(Even though a sock makes a bang-up puppet in a pinch—rendering it a particularly lonely and sad example.)

I have a surprisingly accurate test to determine if playing the same video game 18 hours a day and forgetting to eat is hypomania or depression. The test is called the Sock Determination.

I first understood Silence = Death when I was 12, and the truth in that has never diminished.

Finding the right words to break the silence can seem impossible; but the one that’s broken tyranny, and toppled the machinery of hate throughout history is the same:

“No.”

Huh. You look away for 12 days, and the world just gets worse in the exact same way it was before.

This is a shout out to Nick Fewings—finding a quality image that speaks to the dog-eared nature of poetry is surprisingly hard!

As I accumulate a spotty and inconstant history of posts on this app—here is a pandemic video I forgot I’d made—when it was just me and him in the apartment for 14 months—straight.

BREAKING: Donald Trump officially terminated nearly half of all Education Department staff.

This is an all-out assault on our public schools and Americans with student loans.

Pittsburgh? I asked the universe what it knew of this. Who sends mails me letter in quality, heavy gauge paper from Pittsburgh? I have been nice to anyone from there.

But I was wrong! Thank you, @the-engine-idling.bsky.social for the lovely stickers, and the card.

July is #DisabilityPrideMonth. Last year my illness was a harsh reminder that those of us who have the privilege of being able-bodied and healthy that privilege is TEMPORARY. Unless we die suddenly, all of us will experience illness and disability in our lifetime.

I’ve been seduced by a Friday night, 50-word Fantasy game. Write a scene that obviously takes place in a speculative world—but you need to use a prompt word. Last night: “stitch.”

Getting this down to 50 words was murder—but even I want to know what the hell is going on:

There’s something moderately comforting about waking up and seeing that all the rejection letter requests you sent out the previous evening were correctly formatted—but how can the whole process leave you feeling like you have a hangover?
