A driver hit an elementary school student with a car, 500 ft from Tulip Grove ES in Bowie, after school. The crosswalks at the intersection are unmarked. The principal asked parents to "discuss safety precautions with [their] child" & reminded "all families to please drive slowly & carefully."

Great thread
I am calling upon the people of Ireland to immediately begin construction of a thread on this site about how you or someone you know was roasted for a fashion choice. We need it.

All roasts must have come from Irish people *only*. Please respect this important rule, it makes a difference.

Incredible inaugural address from the new Bolivian president, Rodrigo Paz. An address both that calls the ruinous and democratically destructive movement led by Morales and Arce to account, and calls on all of Bolivia to lift the country once more.

Viva mi patria 🇧🇴

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

The Trump shit video is basically this, but I will reiterate that if a Dem is critical of conservative voters it’s a generational scandal and when Republican pols literally post themselves shitting on their opposition virtually the entire elite politics and media class treats it as fine and normal

#HACO: Harrell Always Chickens Out. He should have followed through with the road safety plan for LWB. Instead of siding with fair and safe use of LWB, he sided with cars and only cars. Vote him out.
i made a little video about recent reporting by @typewriteralley.bsky.social on mayor harrell’s involvement in lake washington boulevard’s safety saga

This Harrell quote from several years ago: “This is the beginning of what we’re gonna do with Rainier Avenue. We’re gonna take our street back.”

This is another example: #HACO. Harrell Always Chickens Out. He gave back LWB to the cars (maybe that’s what he means by “we”).
SDOT was shockingly dismissive of people biking on Rainier when the bus lane was first painted. @seattlebikeblog.com covered it here. The response Tom breaks down here is a mulligan after they first falsely claimed biking in the bus lane is illegal.
Fact-checking SDOT’s excuses for not making Rainier Ave safer
The good news is that  SDOT is redesigning one of the worst stretches of roadway in the city: Rainier Avenue S between Columbia City and I-90. The bad news is that their design still prioritizes ca…

Speed safety cameras are astonishingly successful. We know the tools that reduce traffic violence. Legalize them.

Hey Seattle. It’s possible here too
When newly-elected Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson started converting car lanes to bike lanes in 2009, pundits claimed it was political suicide. In 2018, he stepped down after three terms as the longest-serving mayor in the city's history. So what can this tale teach us about so-called "bikelash"?🧵

excellent reporting and a good example of how unhinged some drivers can be and why I take anti-bike rhetoric seriously. The way many people talk about cyclists online is so dehumanizing it normalizes the idea cyclists don't belong on roads and that hurting them is OK.

The US president trafficked & raped underage girls, the evidence is overwhelming, everyone knows it, and this country's elites & institutions are so broken, so insular, so decadent that we can't even bring ourselves to state it clearly, much less do anything about it.

Contemptible & pathetic.
