This is the way…

‘ “We’re gonna spend our money with businesses who actually respect our dollars, respect our communities, and respect our diversity, equity, and inclusion. We are going to buy from people who respect immigrants, who respect immigrants’ rights, and respect freedom and liberty…” ‘

Must be nice to have nice things. We, in this country, must bow down to the almighty dollar at the expense of commonwealth, sustainability, and even-handed justice.
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

On people *saying* they'll depart New York due to Mamdani's win: the truth of it is they can't do without New York but the opposite is more than true—New York can do without them.

What's this feeling I have today?
Something that I recall from the not too distant past...
Is it, happiness?

Terrorists have taken over a building. You get to select one song to blast from speakers on a continuous loop to try to get them to surrender.

Copy and quote-post with the name of the song.

I choose: "Loving You" by Minnie Riperton.

Teen Vogue has been a rock of moral clarity and astute political analysis - especially the last ten years. Deeply saddened to learn about this.
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

The US is the purple line bottoming out. Our economy may still roar, but we’re killing ourselves. Hoarding wealth, refusing to even ensure our kids have enough to eat. That line is an indictment. It reflects our warped values.
This graph never fails to be shocking: "The US has experienced the earliest and greatest slowdown in life expectancy improvements among higher-income countries, reported Eileen Crimmins. “We have horrible life expectancy—and it’s getting worse and worse”"

Everyone should read the last sentence…twice.
Disability and poverty go hand in hand.

Anyone can become disabled at any time

It’s not a moral failing. It’s not something you can “try harder” your way out of, and it’s an expensive existence

You are much closer to being sick and unhoused than you are to being rich & secure
