I don’t have a whole lot of advice for people younger than me but the earlier in life you stop worrying about what other people will think and just wholeheartedly enjoy the stuff you like the happier you’ll be
One thing people kind of tell you, but not really, about middle age:

One day you'll be like "oh [thing] looks fun but people will think I'm a loser" about a thing

And then you'll say. Wait a second.

Fuck 'em

Thank you for being an excellent mentee and for truly loving this field
After a long day at work, finding my #ACR25 #RheumCat sticker waiting for me brought a smile.
Dr. @rheumcat.bsky.social makes Rheumatology easier to navigate through her dedication, motivation, and genuine care for her trainees. Her example inspires me every day, and I am forever grateful. 💙🐈‍⬛

Normalize talking about your screening colonoscopy. They’re important preventative health measures
I turned "time for your first routine colonoscopy" years old this year. I'll be going through the prep process today and I plan on posting regular updates on this thread. Follow along for all the fun! And if you've turned 45, it's time for you to get this important screening test too!

Senate Dems caved and agreed to this crappy deal to get a future vote on the ACA.

Well, they just got one.

What are we doing here, people?
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

I've told this story before but one of my roommates in medical school never washed his hands after #1 and his reasoning was "I DIDN'T PISS ON MY HANDS!"

If you live in southeast Ohio near Oxford DM me and I will let you know which primary care doctor to avoid.

It's also how people find your cat pics. So more people can admire your cat pics.
Aside from other reasons to add alt text, they also help search for images.

If your search terms are in the alt text, but not the main text, the post still comes up in the results on Bluesky.

Instead of people caving, let's look at the people resisting and let's each try to do a little more of this. Make it matter.

Go volunteer for a progressive launching a “hopeless” campaign against an extremely entrenched incumbent currently squatting in a safe Blue seat. The worst thing that happens, is that you drag the incumbent to the Left. Best case? Zohran Mamdani, who was polling at 6% in January.
