Utah commissioned it's department of health to do a systematic review of gender affirming care for trans youth. In a 1000 page plus report found it was beneficial and the evidence was substantial. The lawmakers rejected it anyways.

Utah debate over transgender treatments for minors divides policymakers, experts over state 'systematic review'
Do No Harm alleges Utah Department of Health and Human Services "systematic review" misleads on transgender outcomes.

“Common sense is common sense,” Schultz said. “I don’t need a report, one way or the other, to tell me that. I just firmly believe that minors should not be transitioning.”

This really gives the game away. As we've said, no amount of evidence would ever satisfy them. It's ideological.

Notably, the New York Times did not cover this at all despite giving glowing coverage to the Cass Review including an interview. This is the bias inherent to their coverage. They only covered the review that aligned with their ideological goals.

This is why the reactionary centrists rely so heavily on these "systematic reviews" to fool gullible liberals into believing that the bigotry is somehow backed by science when it isn't. They ignore or attack the reports that don't align with their ideological beliefs.

and the fact that it wasn’t pulled immediately after the grok CSAM incident says everything you need to know about the way “protecting children” is used as a justification for anything else. it’s never really about that at all. it’s all just power & capital.
Honestly think that if you pulled twitter from the App Store and shut it down it would fuck up the entire right wing ecosystem at that point. Like the entire media apparatus would fall apart.

one day one needs to ask why it seemingly took a horrific angle on the video of the shooting of renee good for some ppl to maybe start considering the salience of gender and misogyny within the context of contemporary far right politics despite the ongoing mass death of black trans women, MMIW, etc

Like they’ve done this to trans people, Black people, immigrants, indigenous folks and disabled people for ages. But it really just extends to anyone to their political left or not a straight white man at this point.

Conservatives have so throughly dehumanized anyone not like them that they really are just out here cheering on the extrajudicial murder of an American citizen too. She’s just a queer liberal woman, all reasons she’s not really human, so of course she was fine for her to be murdered by the state.

Way too many people watched a woman get murdered in cold blood and immediately went “oh well she deserved it” and continued on with their lives as though nothing changed.

Everything has changed.

She didn’t deserve it.

We have agents executing people.

They’re escalating. Everything has changed.

I wonder why the author chose to leave out any mention of the Trumpian agenda towards women’s’ rights, family values, lgbt+ communities, abortion & divorce?

Could analysing them, alongside the history of fascism, perhaps provide a counter argument?

Recently, I've been writing a great deal about Nationalism as a lens through which we can synthesize our understandings of racism, misogyny, and queer misogyny as interlinked mechanisms that advance a state's reproductive agenda, in the pursuit of reproducing its hierarchies.

people who arent trans women love making statements that are like " transphobes and terfs suck" and then when transphobes and terfs come around accusing them of being trans women they say "um actually i'm not a gross trans woman i'm actually a cis man / trans man / i'm born female / etc. checkmate"

So the zealots whose entire conception of "feminism" is defending the legitimacy of 'woman' as mother and womb are buying into nationalist, reactionary politics?

The story here is actually how shit most people's definition of "left-leaning" is.
"Left-leaning mothers of Mumsnet are deserting Labour for Reform" [Times]

I can't stop laughing long enough to come up with something sarcastic to say about this headline.

A huge problem for a sane world, in my view. :)

I'll explain this slowly. Isaac is not the one who expects "Heated Rivals" to solve homophobia. Isaac is being critical of the show's female fanbase who liken their consumption of what is fundamentally fun gay romslop to queer activism and act like them being horny about gay dudes is activism.

OK?
