Consider a programmer looking at code they themselves wrote a year ago, now having to identify and fix a bug. They have to rebuild the mental model of what is going on, which is easier if they have already had a mental model of what is going on.

A few months ago I built a new desktop and I've exclusively been using Linux on it. It's been a great experience so far, and I'd highly recommend that everyone at least give it a try, especially given the upcoming Windows 10 end of life in October. I wrote about it in more detail on my blog:
