I’d be fine if I were the guy who took Trump too seriously, who overestimated him. I get there’s a comfort in believing he’s a slobbering fool, which he kind of is. But I always assume anyone who is enjoying a spree of destroying everything I love is smarter than me if “smarter” exists.
This is a perfect example of how Trump uses paralipsis ("I'm not saying/I'm just saying") to normalize horrible things, as @jenmercieca.bsky.social tells us. But if there's a crisis of confidence at Tesla requiring Elon to pretend to step back, this don't help.

Holy crap. The DOJ is arguing that the President can unilaterally deport anyone he wants without ANY statutory authority, just on his inherent authority as President over national security.
That is a terrifying claim to make and not one that has ever been recognized before in US history.
