It’s not mean or unkind to live in reality. Lament the state of our political discourse, but don’t give our reality-based truths away to someone’s misfortune or tragedy. Does anyone deserve to get shot for being cruel? Not necessarily. But being a cruel person who gets shot doesn’t make you good.

ALSO, he’s not a politician. He has been elected to no office. He worked some campaigns in college then dropped out to become a full time political violence agitator. Does he “deserve” to be shot? Who cares! He got shot. And it’s not wrong to keep in mind that, had it been you, he would not care.

And FTR, whether or not you believe he “deserved” to get shot (few victims of gun violence “deserve” it), these are his words: "I think it's worth it to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights.”

When you look at the list of institutions they want to defund: libraries, museums, the Smithsonian, public schools, PBS, NPR, archives, you can clearly see that the real threat to an authoritarian regime is an informed and educated public

Yes, tariffs are a tax, but people don't mention often enough that they are a regressive tax. Taxes on consumer goods tax the poor at a higher rate, as basic necessities are a much larger part of their spending.

If food goes up by 20%, it is a tax on the poor. Rich people won't even notice.

The fact that the Department of Justice has not, and will never, launch an investigation into this massive national security breach tells you all you need to know about this lawless and profoundly corrupt Administration.

I hate to be that person but a lot of people are waiting for Black people to be out in the street and that’s not happening. They’re upset but after that, then what?
I know this is going to sound naive or earnest, but I genuinely find myself shocked by how little people seem to be upset by the levels of corruption we're seeing. Is that the median voter assumes everyone is corrupt already? Or isn't actually getting stories about the corruption?

The current administration is EXACTLY what the U.S. has always been. Everything we are witnessing, from abusive denigration, to fascist eugenics, to control by a few wealthy whites, this has been the U.S. since its violent founding.

Now that there is no pretense, may more people finally understand.

Congress DOESN'T MATTER if federal agencies can be deleted from existence without their knowledge and input.

Congress is the only form of representation the PEOPLE have within the government. If Congress doesn't matter, WE don't matter. CALL. YOUR. REPS.

My latest.

As journalists and writers, we have a duty to use language that is accurate and describes our current reality.

I’m no longer going to talk about DEI/Anti-DEI.

Let’s be clear. We are facing racial purges and re-segregation.
