3) The article doesn't engage with a possibility I saw somewhere else--the Secret Service could outsource Trump's security to BOP officers. I don't know if anyone wants that, but it would resolve the problem of how to safely put armed Secret Service agents in a prison.

Like, why not try writing a res that says "we support a ceasefire on the condition that (a) the hostages are all immediately freed, (b) Hamas agrees to exile itself to a third-party country and (c) Gaza is disarmed", and put the screws on other security council countries to veto?

It's stunning that the technical leader of the World Health Organization's COVID-19 response, Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove, publically reaffirmed that COVID-19 is still a global health threat and still a pandemic, yet hardly any media outlet has covered this except for this one.

This story about how a Republican election official in Arizona is facing threats of violence for refusing to align with conspiracy theories is just one example of how conspiracism is undermining public services. www.vox.com/23899688/202...

- Trump pretending that he's being "persecuted"
- Claiming that anyone who crosses him is "vermin"
- Praising insurrectionists as patriots & promising to pardon them
- A GOP that refuses to condemn any of this.

This is a deadly recipe for violence.

"Panasonic has turned down a second multi-million dollar deal to open a battery plant in Oklahoma. This marks the third company to stray away from the state, as lawmakers work to figure out why Oklahoma can’t land these large deals."

Weird. Such a mystery.

I think this is the key point. The old “when you’re accustomed to privilege, equality feels like oppression” line. I don’t think rural people are even portrayed particularly badly in a cultural sense, not broadly.

We've had decades of research on UBI now, and the only thing holding it back it the insane Calvinist rot at the heart of this country's identity. UBI is like that Michael Pollan quote about food: "Give people money. Not too much,. Mostly cash."
Don't miss results just in this month from Earth's biggest UBI experiment: 6,000 people in rural Kenya getting cash. Result: lump sum at the start helped more than monthly payments, but both caused so much growth that even neighboring towns got wealthier, healthier, & safer! #ShareGoodNewsToo
The first results from the world’s biggest basic income experiment
Money always helps, but for the very poor, one lump sum can last a long time.
