I need to manage my expectations so I won’t be crushed if this is bad, and Disney needs to help me by making trailers that are less SICK AS FUCK than this

I'm with Kelly here: deeply interested in leftism as a political project but have no interest whatsoever in leftism as a subculture. the stakes of leaving this behind are hopefully clearer by the day
Saw someone say, "End your friendships with people who are going about life like nothing is wrong." I will never understand people who think that further isolating ourselves from everyday people who don't get it is going to save us. It's not. Your judgment and disdain will not save us.

What should I do with my Neil Gaiman books? Suppose that I don’t want to offload them onto someone else, or to throw them away or destroy them just to destroy them (e.g. by shredding or burning). I’m looking for creative solutions.

"I never liked Neil Gaiman/Marilyn Manson/JK Rowling/insert problem child anyway."

But people did, and putting yourself on a pedestal above them as an attempt to feign some kind of pop culture superiority is a shitty thing to do.
The Neil Gaiman thing means people are once again thinking their taste in media is indicative of their morals. It is not. In fact, thinking your personal taste reflects your morals positively does the exact opposite. It doesn't help the victims to "but I never liked his work anyway" post. Shut up.

Just a heads up for peeps, if you bought a Neil Gaiman audiobook from Audible, they are allowing refunds for them with no questions asked and no matter how long ago you bought them. I don’t even have an active subscription and they gave me credits back for two titles purchased in 2020.

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

At least 75% of American punditry at this point is packaging the least challenging ideas imaginable as forbidden truths.
A key to the success of the whole Bari Weiss grift is that a lot of top media people actually sympathize with it. She pretends it's like pirate radio but it's actually a major strain of thinking throughout mainstream media.
News: Chuck Lane, deputy opinion editor for The Washington Post, is leaving the newspaper.

He’ll be joining The Free Press.

Maybe people wouldn't get so mad at health insurance companies if we accurately described how they work. Paying premiums doesn't buy you care, it buys you the opportunity to pay an unknown amount for care in the future. Hmm ok that may make people more mad actually

every online ADHD test should start by asking “how boring is the thing that you’re procrastinating by taking this test?” and if you answer “not boring/not procrastinating” you’re disqualified
