Yeah I hated Kvoth but stayed for the magic system and the worldbuilding. The Wise Man's Fear is better because you get more of the latter.

that's part of the tactic--"the overwhelm." I keep seeing the advice to pick one issue and focus on that, because that's the only way to have a material impact and not get completely bowled over by the sheer volume of it all
