The thing about the “redemption arc” being trotted out for the “I never thought leopards would eat MY face” crowd is that at the end of the day, they are just going to move their support to the Cougars Eating People’s Faces Party.

The educated liberal big city US folks outraged at Trump's renovation of Lincoln bathroom really need to scroll some Facebook of their less established relatives and friends to see what kind of aesthetic resonates with Trump's target audience.

Insisting that corporations did that is the kind of enabling mindset that is going to get us all killed. It is a self-flattering fantasy that refuses to look at ugly truths.

There was a moment when it seemed like we might be our better selves. We were wrong. Don’t continue being wrong.
Remember how just a few years ago during the worst of the pandemic when we saw how the govt can actually do big things and saw that our collective health & well-being are intertwined, and then corporations got mad that they lost a modicum of power and helped fund a backlash of amnesia and fascism?

The “scandal” is not that it didn’t happen, but that he used “aunt” in the colloquial sense, not in the “literally the sister of a parent” sense.

That really is all this is.

support whomever you’d like, but what is frustratingly dishonest about this take is that actual issue — the thing critics have identified as the problem — isn’t the decision of the 21-year old to get the tattoo, but of the judgment of the 40-year old who still has it.
I think political writers actually should have an opinion about a guy in his 40s having a Nazi tattoo. The decision to keep it on their body may tell us more than their website.
