My understanding was that independent agencies exist because Congress has decided that some issues, some matters, some areas should be handled in this way by nonpartisan experts—that Congress is saying that expertise matters with respect to aspects of the economy and transportation and the various independent agencies that we have. 17 year old Nigel Farage targeted 9 year old Yinka Bankole and repeatedly and systematically racially harassed him for a year. “Where are you from?” Farage asked. “That’s the way back to Africa” with an accompanying hand gesture pointing towards a place far away. This continued *every* morning.
It took him a while, I recall, but one day Farage, and at least one other, spotted me in the lower-school playground. He was about 17. He towered over me. “Where are you from?” he asked. Within seconds of offering my rather confused and sputtering answers, he had a clear response. “That’s the way back to Africa” with an accompanying hand gesture pointing towards a place far away. My thoughts are with all who lost loved ones or still struggle with effects of #Covid. Tho we knew it at the time, confirmation of the “toxic & chaotic culture” at heart of Govt; that they did “too little, too late” & that faster action could have saved over 20K lives is still horrifying
