Convinced that defeating the other side on displays of proud patriotism is necessary.

It’s completely correct to disagree with historical (and recent!) decisions this country’s made. But we’re fighting for its ideals, and in that fight, we get to define what patriotism means to us
As the crowd at #HandsOff Boston files into City Hall Plaza, someone got up on a barrier waving the flag, and folks started singing the Star Spangled Banner.

This too is America.

Good news: more than 50% of the world’s economies have seen carbon emissions from fossil fuel power generation peaking. And with the speed of change in the electricity sector many more will join this growing list in coming years.

In the still of the night, Utah comes through!
Just now: The plaintiffs who were arguing that Utah GOP's congressional map is illegal won in court.

The judge orders one of the two maps submitted by the plaintiffs ('map 1') be used.

The ruling, if it stands, guarantees that Democrats will pick up a congressional seat in Utah next year.

NEW: Dems easily flipped the sheriff's office in Pennsylvania's Bucks County, a big swing county in the Philly suburbs.

So? The incumbent GOP sheriff had contracted with ICE. His Dem challenger promised to end the contract.

Now he wants other swing-state Dems to look at his victory as a lesson:
Voters Ousted This Pennsylvania Sheriff After He Signed Up to Collaborate With ICE - Bolts
A populous, swing county replaced its GOP sheriff on Tuesday after months of controversy over his joining ICE’s 287(g) program. The Democratic winner promises he’ll end the contract.

Also worth repeating: Mamdani's greatest power isn't something just anyone can learn or emulate. He's got an entire PHILOSOPHY and MORAL CORE based on care over punishment that informs everything he says and does. Without that, the charisma means nothing.

blacksky.community/profile/did:...
This is absolutely Mamdani's not-so-secret secret power: he knows who he is and what he believes and he wants to help ALL of us. So you can't trip him up with a trick question; you can't get a fake note out of him. BECAUSE HE HAS NOTHING TO HIDE AND HE'S DONE THE READING AND HE'S HERE FOR US.
100 percent. I think he benefits from what most great orators benefit from: he knows himself—and more importantly, he talks to (and understands) what moves people. And, as far as I can tell, he believes what he’s saying.

I hope someone's tracking all this private prison revenue so we know exactly how much to fine these companies and pay in reparations.

We're in a battle for democracy against fascism. But we're also in a battle for democracy against crypto's attempt to purchase us wholesale, and our allies aren't necessarily the same between the two fights. It's going to be a hard slog.

The Cave Caucus thinks getting this vote was a big deal. Huh???
UPDATE: The Senate votes 53-47 to shoot down the Baldwin amendment to extend ACA funds for 1 year. A party-line vote with every Republican rejecting it.
An important vote in this series: Tammy Baldwin’s proposal to extend ACA expiring funds for 1 year. It’s structured as a motion to table (i.e. scrap it from the amendment tree). But it’ll show the appetite (or lack thereof) in the Senate to address this issue.

Don’t tell me House Dems can’t get Lauren Boebert’s vote on CBD gummies
More than 15 Senate Democrats join GOP to advance nationwide ban on hemp products, including CBD gummies,
oh the paul amendment is going down 78-22
November 11, 2025 at 2:46 AM
That feels like it might be a vote on which to throw Rand Paul a bone even if you don't much like hemp products.

He's enough of a wacko that it probably doesn't matter, but you do want him to keep jamming Republican leadership from time to time, because that's way more important than hemp stuff
The shutdown deal includes a ban on hemp products that none of its negotiators debated in public.

Disappointing that only 24 senators voted against killing an amendment to strike that ban.
