Empire always comes home.

All the sins we have committed abroad were always destined to find us in our homes, on our streets.

We're being haunted by the violence we allowed to thrive.

NEW: The CBP confirmed to @404media.co that it has been flying Predator drones over LA amid the protests. These Predator B drones are military-caliber UAVs used for aerial reconnaissance that can be armed.

It further breaks the seal on federal involvement in civilian matters. More here:

Masking discourse is on again and I’ll just say if you see people masking when few others are it’s likely because they’ve determined that for them, in that setting, the benefit of not catching (or spreading) whatever’s going around is worth the cost of masking. It’s rarely more complicated than that

“Israeli airstrikes on Wednesday — coming after the announcement of a ceasefire deal — killed at least 19 people across Gaza, according to the enclave’s Civil Defense service. The rescue agency said in a statement that many of the strikes targeted residential areas.”

Standing in solidarity with those protesting at MLA today and over the whole conference. I resigned from the committee I was serving on and will not be renewing my membership. It’s the least I can do in my stand against the genocide and scholasticide in Gaza.

This sort of thing simultaneously erases the work of indigenous and Native Americans, while ALSO reducing us to props in your own political psychodrama. We're not actually here to make you feel better or save you, we have our own mahi here at home.
Dear people of America: *this* is the kind of stuff you shouldn’t say in response to the Māori people and the US. You have Native and Indigenous people here, working *relentlessly* with our own practices and medicines that never go viral or get uplifted bc this culture refuses to give us the chance.

Most university administrators are looking for a better position elsewhere (at another university, private sector, whatever), and therefore they have to show how "bold" and "innovative" they are. And that involves shaking things up. Of course, if it goes poorly, they're not left holding the bag.
Chair of the BoT: "Although these findings are challenging, they clearly demonstrate that we need to change."

actually no my good suit, the whole point of Trustee Swanson's very pointed questions is that you *haven't* actually established there's a problem
