Seizure medication, wheelchairs, Social Security cards, dentures, urns of ashes, work uniforms — just some of what's been thrown away during cruel, degrading, utterly counterproductive homeless sweeps.

A good time to revisit this gutting @propublica.org story:

As I literally just yesterday was saying to somebody, if their "AI" is so good and useful for literally, why do they have to keep tricking us into using it, shoving it without warning into all the tools we actually *Want* to use, or otherwise forcing it on us without our consent?
Heavily playtesting my new puzzle game at the moment and seeing all kinds of dark-patterned mobile ads (there is an ad free version ofc) but there's only been one where the close button is directly wired to install, i.e. you cannot move past without installing...

“A U.S. citizen!” And now he’s missing.

Adrian Martinez tried to defend a man ICE was harassing. Video shows six agents swarming him. He struggles but doesn’t lay hands on them. They take him to the ground & shove him into a CBP vehicle.

Abuse of power. Keep recording. Don’t stop.

McIver is arrested.
Padilla is handcuffed.
Hortman is assassinated.
Lander is arrested.

Meanwhile, Jeffries won’t blame Trump. Martin won’t blame Trump. And Schumer will demand an investigation by Trump.

“You don’t have the authority to arrest US citizens,” Lander said. “I’m not obstructing, I am standing right here in the hallway. … You don’t have the authority to arrest US citizens asking for a judicial warrant.”
Lander’s arrest, which amNewYork observed, occurred as the comptroller and his staff walked arm-in-arm with an immigrant whom federal agents — representing ICE, the FBI and the Treasury Department, each of whom wearing masks to conceal their faces — moved to seize after a court hearing.

It is really really sinking in for me the degree to which LLMs are the ultimate expression of right wing anti-intellectualism. Its proponents are literally mocking the idea that anyone would ever want to learn anything, know anything, develop any actual skill, or have a thought of their own.

The Minnesota assassin appears to be a hate-filled right winger. So can we stop walking on eggshells about MAGA's legitimization of political violence?

Yes, Republicans have also been the target of inexcusable violence, but this isn't a "both sides" issue.

It is also unacceptable to threaten to take over a major city with military force and effectively end democratic governance there. That’s why the Senator was there. Let’s not lose sight of that.
It is unacceptable and un-American to manhandle and handcuff a United States Senator who was simply doing his job.

We need immediate answers from law enforcement about what happened, and there must be assurances from the Administration that this will never happen again.

The White House is demanding that ICE get deportations up, and ordering any career law enforcement who objects to get the hell out of the way.

The head of ICE’s Enforcement and Removal operations apparently resigned rather than obey an order to fire ICE officers who weren’t hitting arrest quotas!

Cannot express enough how much what happened at that meeting three weeks ago has changed things on the ground.

Courthouse arrests started within days, then check-in arrests. Worksite raids, once rare, began happening daily. Detention has skyrocketed over capacity. People are going missing.

Gavin Newsom just gave a strong speech laying out the stakes for democracy in blunt language that too few powerful Democrats have been willing to use. I know the huge problems with him. But at this awful moment, playing the "Sorry, he's dead to me" game with Democrats seems an unaffordable luxury.

The speed with which the country is disassembling! I keep wondering how the regime thinks the US will function without Black and brown people, in a white fantasia. The people left won’t be able to feed themselves, heal themselves, build their homes, or flavor their food. What a choice!

In a book? Republican want it banned. On social media? Republicans want no moderation. Ok.
YouTube has encouraged its moderators to leave up videos that may break the platform’s rules, including those with derogatory slurs or misinformation, as long as they're considered to be in the public interest. The shift comes as the GOP pressures YouTube to stop moderating content.

This is sort of what happened with DOGE. They were convinced there was a mountain of easily-detectable waste and fraud that a handful of folks equipped with "common sense" could root out & eliminate in a manner of weeks. And there wasn't. But they had promised headlines about big cuts...
what people seem to believe is that there is a large number of criminal, layabout immigrants who can be easily found and deported. they support doing so snd are dismayed by the deportation of otherwise law abiding people. the problem is that the criminal group is imaginary!
Wow. New CBS poll finds majority (55%) supports the *general goal* of deportations, but a bigger majority (56%) dislikes how Trump is carrying them out. And 63% want due process.

Again, we need a better discourse around public opinion on immigration, as I've argued:

They lied. When pressed, they HID THEIR IDS. DHS admits they sent them. This wasn’t a welfare check. It was a test run for a police state.

That’s the same amount of people who live in Iowa and Nebraska and Kansas and Arkansas combined…
