The older I get, the more my politics mature from childish, naïve beliefs like "the world is complicated and leaders have to make hard decisions" to more serious, adult principles like "hurting people is bad and helping people is good."

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?

For many, the logic seemed unassailable: Giving poor families money would measurably improve the lives of their children. A few years ago, social scientists set out to test whether that assumption was right.

The results of the experiment shocked them. Listen to "The Daily."
More Money Was Supposed to Help Poor Kids. So Why Didn’t It?
A new study may undercut the idea that cash payments to low-income families can end the cycle of childhood poverty.

Many people: how do I make friends as an adult?

If you can't live in a walkable neighborhood (hard to afford): plan something fun, invite someone you kinda know. Have fun doing it. Then at the end (this is the key) say "this was fun. Let's be friends and do something like this again.
