Do NOT license your voice to ElevenLabs.

Their highest-paid actor made $30k last year. Sounds a lot, but that’s from 1.2 bn paid uses - $0.000025 per job. ElevenLabs charge 20 cents per 1,000 words. So they’re making at least 8,000 times what their artists are.

I had the delightful experience of teaching high school for about a year, which is how I know that 14-year-olds are kids, 15-year-olds are kids, 16-year-olds are kids, and 17-year-olds are kids. 18-year-olds? In my experience, usually kids

DYK, that sepia ink was originally made from squid ink?

DYK, that it is possible to recover the remains of ink from fossil Belemnites?

DYK, that Mary Anning discovered this?

DYK, that you can reconstitute that fossil squid ink and use it to draw?

DYK, this was en vogue in the 19th century?

Planted my bulbs for spring and early summer flowers today: snowdrops, muscari, weird tulips, anemones and freesias.

Now, let’s see what comes up next year. I’ve heard squirrels like tulip bulbs. I hope the ones that visit our yard pass these up for the peanuts I give them. 🌷 🐿️ 🥜

I’d 100% watch the Ozma of Oz movie.
The reason they have to keep making Wizard of Oz prequels is if they went *forward* then they'd have to let people know about Ozma, and Hollywood will not, absolutely will *not*, ever allow that to happen

I think we all know the rich fuckers who hunt & kill wild animals at no risk to themselves are ABSOLUTELY the ones who all along secretly (except among themselves) wished they were hunting people.

Anyone who wants to do this needs to join a human hunter club & MUST take turns being the prey.
in another example of "this is too on-the-nose for fiction", rich people be hunting humans now

Universities spend gazillions on EdTech software that doesn’t serve faculty or student interests and often doesn’t work well. But what if we got off that path and leveraged internal resources to produce non-profit systems? Here’s a proposal to leverage the CUNY systems platforms.
"Christopher Newfield called for academics to 'seize the means of knowledge production' by working 'step by step ... toward direct control of universities.' ... I think the most imperative, but also the most apparent pressure point for academics looking to act upon his call is education technology."

Bill Clinton was the most powerful man in the world, and Monica Lewinsky was an intern and his subordinate, and in any other workplace that would be called sexual harassment, and if you don't take power dynamics into account when you talk about things like this, you don't actually understand consent
