To fully appreciate how perfect this post was, I had to look up the lyrics to Insane Clown Posse's song "Miracles":

"Fucking magnets, how do they work?
And I don't wanna talk to a scientist
Y'all motherfuckers lying, and getting me pissed"

THIS IS PRESIDENTIAL NOW.
if you told 17 year old me how thoroughly, world-historically vindicated ICP would be within a couple decades...
Trump: "Nobody knows what magnets are."

I get kind of offended that Potbelly doesn't chop its onions for its "loaded" chili, it just takes the sandwich-cut rings and puts them in, leaving each spoonful hanging with stringy masses.

OMG, @maureenthorson.bsky.social delivers line after incredible line. "What's religion but everyone knowing the words?" will tumble around in my brain for quite a while.
today's small prose poem from Maureen Thorson is a marvel, but that first sentence — "It’s nearly Christmas." — just about gave me a panic attack.

The “Syncretic Vader“ hypothesis explains why various documents purporting to depict the ”individual” inside the armor vary so widely in physical characteristics
“Darth Vader” was an amalgamation of various Imperial Era generals and cyborgs that were combined in histories written centuries after the fact

I'm going to a Belly concert tonight and bracing myself for a swell of youthful feelings and memories jogging loose my rusted-over emotional apparatus.

Tanya Donelly, what you're doing is cruel, but I'd still rather suffer you than suffer the fools.

Smarter minds than mine may be able to determine if @wikipedia.org is flagging LLM content for removal, or flagging LLM content that it will let stand.
right, like I saw at least one history entry being "removed some AI content", so I think it's trying to identify pages with AI content?

(which would be good?)

I did a knee-jerk outrage post about @wikipedia.org using LLMs even as they fundraise under a "Knowledge is human" slogan. (Screencap from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerryma...)

As soon as I did, the post that alerted me to it was deleted, and I started to wonder if there was something more insidious...

Loving today's news that the mysterious "fedora man" outside the Louvre heist was actually a 15-year-old museum visitor who dresses like a 1940s French detective all the time, just because. apnews.com/article/louv...

I know "right-wing" has become synonymous with "white supremacist" but we should consistently use the more descriptive epithet lest people continue to believe our country actually needs a "right wing" to fly.
1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

If you were as mystified as me why Justice KBJ would put a stay on the lower court order for Trump to fund SNAP, this helps.

And they say these concentration camps are non-punitive, that they're mere "processing centers." ICE must be dismantled completely, as even the concept of immigration enforcement has been perverted irredeemably.
Her husband told her that detainees at Broadview had to get up at 5am to get in line for one bathroom. He often peed himself. One time he had to wait until 2pm to use the bathroom. You could only use the bathroom once a day. He said the agents would beat you if you used the bathroom on yourself.

It was permissible for Madonna to completely reinvent herself because each reinvention manifested in the music she created. Her reinvention was through her actions.

Don't trust that Marjorie Taylor Greene is doing the same.

If the punditry is to be believed, that the majority of voters vote on the economy, it feels like a problem if a majority of the electorate has a shallow-to-nonexistent understanding of how policies affect the economy, and on what time scale.

I'm alarmed to realize I've lost the capacity to dream about freedom from the constraints of financial necessity. My mind just refuses to game that out. Huh.
What's a risk you'd be more comfortable taking if Universal Basic Income (UBI) provided a floor of income you could never fall below?

"THAT," an entity that haunts a small town, but instead of preying on fear, like IT, it manifests people's wildest hopes, showing them dreams and possibilities they'd never dared pursue.

Alas, THAT eventually does devour the people it inspires.
