I've been playing Q-UP, a brilliant and deeply weird incremental game with an esports theme.

playing riven (remake). had to turn off steam overlay because the achievement pop-ups kept ruining everything. you design this whole culture and language and then name places like "jungle island"? did the villain name it that? haha awful

I went to meet the 'Rockstar 31', the developers who were suddenly fired from their work on GTA 6 for what the studio has described as gross misconduct.
That's not what the workers call it though. They have another couple of words they prefer to use: union busting.

lil level design thing: I didn't like how these two walls met at their corners, felt thin / weak / implausible? but no room left to resize anything seriously... took me a while to realize I could just thicken the facade with beefy columns, also win some continuity across the facade too

this 0.2 second cheek skin bounce effect had a higher budget than most indie games

On Saints Row we had a debug npc named Skinballs (lol) that was literally just four spheres wrapped in different shades of skin texture so we could test lighting for different skin tones during development. But teams need to plan for that kind of testing with intentionality, and not enough do.
