You wouldn't know my AI tool, she's from Canada.
Heh I just saw a LinkedIn post arguing that we definitely know workplace AI is so much more capable than we think because of COURSE the companies that are having massive productivity gains are keeping details of their AI use under wraps in order to maintain a competitive advantage.

Has anyone started a lettuce head for Starmer yet?
Ever since starmer took over i think people have internalized his profound cynicism about britain. Nothing can ever get better and everything is making sure someone else gets even less than you. This isnt an immutable part of the british character! Its a response to behaviour from the top!

This is one of the most corrosive aspects of long-term conservative governance in Canada (money for buddies and austerity for everyone else) - the public comes to believe that better is actually *not* possible.
A lot of people don't demand better I guess. It seems that we have abandoned all standards by which to judge elected officials.

The utter incompetence of Ford just makes me cry. Everything he touches turns to shit.

It's either made worse by active interference or through deliberate neglect.

"The Ford government is ignoring this file" vs. "The Ford government is engaged with this file." It's "Oh FUCK!" either way.

The province created the program, municipalities followed the program, spent the $$$ and signed contracts and the province yanked the program.

It's mind-blowing waste and mismanagement of our public finances by the Ford government.

Colleagues and I have been promoting the need for a Royal Commission on the future of Canada’s economy for the better part of a year. That many are only now starting to realize that the US *really* isn’t interested in economic cooperation highlights the need for this vital national conversation.

Starting with the assumption that the “North American” market is gone, and that Can-US relations is now based on dominance, not mutually beneficial cooperation, would lead to much different policies than those Carney is implementing. Strengthening and not slashing the public service, for one.

A comprehensive trade and security deal with the US was never, ever possible: an ongoing series.
It is frustrating that this basic point is only now starting to become the conventional wisdom, a full year (actually, seven years) after governments had all the facts necessary to reach this conclusion.

When you write the whole piece around the idea of “MeToo” as an adequate description of what caused specific men to lose specific positions, and when you do this incredibly weird cutesy business to avoid *mentioning what happened*, you do a disservice to readers.

This is nauseating: “As the emails stretch through the years, they show how that protected realm vanished into the mists of time, pulled under by the rising forces of the internet and the #MeToo movement.” A “Gone With the Wind” framing for sexual abuse and harassment.
Seriously, what is wrong with these people?

I'm trying a new-to-me recipe tonight for a rosemary and cranberry bundt cake (the rosemary is infused into the milk and then removed before adding the milk to the batter). You know you're an adult when this flavour combo sounds like an excellent idea for a cake. 😆

(Will we do it with other crumbling buildings like 24 Sussex? Sadly, no. But we did it with Parliament Hill).

MPs were expected to vote by the end of 2025 on a way forward for fixing the crumbling parliament, but that now won't happen
