What you need to understand, honey, is that the Democrats know what they’re doing. Every move is shrewd even if it SEEMS terrible. They’ve been doing this for a long time, okay? They are just victims of bad luck! YOU’VE never had bad luck? Come on now.

I'm not sold on affordability as the issue of our time; it keys into the anxieties our system has made inescapable but hardly feels enduring or inspiring.

But it is a fun one for Trump to confront, because he can lie all he wants. The more he calls attention to it, the worse it is for him.
On what Trump's saying about Walmart's Thanksgiving dinner deal this year:

A) Yes, 2025's IS smaller.

B) If you take the 2025 package, add back the food it's missing from 2024, and take out the items 2024 didn't have, Walmart's 🦃 dinner package in 2025 costs 2.6% MORE than it did in 2024. 🤔

The most consistent feature of the Trump era is that Republicans cannot win when he isn't on the ballot. They will have a major problem in 2026 and 2028. They're going to double down on voter suppression, gerrymandering, and political prosecutions of Democrats. We cannot be complacent.

I don't think Tuesday's shellacking changes much in the Senate. But it could make Speaker Mike's self-immolation on Trump's behalf a lot less agreeable to a bunch of soon-to-be-unemployed House members.

Repro wins so far:

- Virginia protected its status as the last abortion access haven in the South

- The Pennsylvania Supreme Court retained the three Democratic justices needed to protect abortion

- New Jersey elected a Dem governor (vital as one of the few states w/zero abortion restrictions)

I would like to take a moment to recognize how terrible Cuomo’s campaign was. He doesn’t live in the city, didn’t act like he wanted the job, peddled in racism & bigotry, didn’t interact with voters, didn’t know the difference between different ethnic groups he was pandering to /1

The factional grifters will hate this, but the Mamdani-Spanberger-Sherrill axis actually suggests the outlines of a broad, emerging Dem coalition organized around both anti-Trump *and* affordability politics, not a party bitterly divided against itself.
These big wins will embolden Dems to take on Trump's lawbreaking and show there's a price for GOP enabling of him. Folks hate to hear this, but normal patterns are asserting themselves: Liberalism isn't dead, Rs are likely to lose in 2026, and Trump is really unpopular, not a magical exception.

Today is an absolute rebuke of anti-transgender politics, and a real sign that the anti-trans panic is fading.

From VA Gov to Loudoun County to New Jersey to New York City and Pennsylvania, anti-trans Republicans are falling left and right.
Democrats are currently ahead in 63 (!!!) races in the Virginia House of Delegates.

If this holds, it would be one of the largest state legislature swings in the last 4 years.

Its an absolute bloodbath for anti-trans Republicans.
