If there isn't a Liberal campaign ad featuring Danielle Smith's voice saying that "the perspective that Pierre would bring would be very much in sync with, I think…the new direction in America,” within the next few days, someone should be fired.

The purpose of narrow and graduated is to minimize the harm to Canadian companies, allowing them time to adjust. It may not be “shock and awe” but it gives them better lasting power. Trump would have been wiser to follow suit.
It's interesting that the Canadian tariffs on the US are to massively increase in 21 days. In the defense world, it's my understanding that it's generally agreed that that pattern in bombing, ratcheting up the pressure, is not effective. That said, it's not something I've studied as such.
