Wait. So Alberta’s federal income taxes don’t belong to Canada but BC’s coastline belongs to Alberta?

What in the When It Suits Us kind of Trumpian thought pretzel is this now?
'There is no B.C. coast. It's Canada's coast': Sask. premier supports Alta. pipeline proposal | CBC News
Sask. Premier Scott Moe repeated his support for the proposed pipeline between Alberta and the northern B.C. coast earlier this week by Alberta Premier Danielle Smith.

Imperial Oil Layoffs Signal Deeper Trouble for Canada

Imagine an oil sands future in which bitumen production rises a lot, but employment falls.

That's what happened over the past 11 years. Imperial Oil shows that the trend is far from over.

If we had a competent opposition there would already be YouTube ads screaming "Doug Ford wants YOU to pay and criminals to GET OFF"
So now taxpayers will have to pay for traffic safety measures, rather than having law-breakers foot the bill through fines. How is that good for taxpayers? www.cp24.com/local/toront...

The United States of America is a fascist state, bending to the knee of a fucking lunatic dictator. No real Congress, no real Supreme Court, no real media.

Anyone pretending this is still just "democratic backsliding" or a "threat" to democracy is kidding themselves. It's over.
Update: It's not just Nexstar

“Jimmy Kimmel Live will be preempted indefinitely” - per an ABC spokesperson
This is...something

Nexstar, one of largest owners of TV stations in the country, is pre-empting JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE "for the foreseeable future":

"Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming."

What a wildly incorrect conclusion. On almost every point Trump has in fact proved enormously successful: he's already outright fired tens of thousands in the bureaucracy and replaced its upper echelons with incompetents and corrupt bagmen, he has sent the military into cities,... 1/n
I find this @donmoyn.bsky.social piece helpful in clarifying why I disagree with the "America is already in competitive authoritarianism" thesis.

Don's checklist shows things that Trump has tried to do, but he hasn't *succeeded* in most areas

If you've noticed, every Dem politician that actually pushes back hard is winning the PR battle at least.

Which makes the establishment Dems look even more foolish and irrelevant every day.

Here’s the key difference between Prime Minister Mark Carney and piffleswipe Pierre Poilievre, one that Canadians seem to recognize: the PM is always acting in good faith, whether or not one agrees moment to moment, whereas the piffleswipe is always acting in bad.

Or for that matter, the leadership of Air Canada, who stranded tens of thousands of passengers for while trying to cling to unjust employment practices.
For those saying “union leaders should have been thrown in jail” for defying order that Air Canada flight attendants return to work,

Curious as to what punishment should be ordered against @amazon executives who fired 4500 workers in Quebec to punish them for unionizing.

Jail?

I've seen a number of government agencies & major decision makers basically saying "things will go back to normal once Trump is gone" & as a result do nothing to insulate Canada from this madness. At this point saying "things will go back to normal" is a dereliction of duty to protect Canadians.
At this point, it is difficult to imagine ever entering the United States again in my lifetime. SCOTUS has done generational damage to the rule of law. Congress offers no resistance to a fascist regime. Trump's eventual defeat or death will not fix this, the entire GOP is evil. It's irreparable.
SCOTUS is savagely beating the corpse that was once the rule of law in America. Another key turning point in what is now unequivocally a fascist state to our south. If you go to the United States, you do not enjoy any rights.
